Staining in Illinois
In the Great Lakes region the wood goes from humid summer heat to snow and ice every year. Decks get the worst of it, so a one-coat penetrating stain that can be re-coated without peeling (SRD) is the go-to, with Log & Siding for cabins and cottages.

Where to buy Sikkens Proluxe stain near Me in Illinois
Sikkens Cetol SRD Stain in Illinois not only excels in simulated durability testing, but also earns praise from professionals who stain houses, decks and other exterior surfaces for a living. No transparent stain in Illinois will ever last as long as a solid stain or paint, but transparent stains such as Sikkens Cetol SRD do have one big advantage: Unlike solid stains and paints, which form a water-tight film on top of wood, transparent stains penetrate the wood itself, so they won't flake or peel the way paint or solid stain can after being exposed to the elements. This makes transparent stains the experts' choice for horizontal surfaces like decks -- which suffer harsher abuse from the sun and moisture than do vertical surfaces such as siding -- and for rough surfaces such as cedar shakes.

Illinois Sikkens questions
Can I buy the original Sikkens Cetol SRD in Illinois?
No — Illinois is on our VOC list, so the original 550 VOC Cetol SRD can’t be shipped there. Order Cetol SRD RE, the reduced-VOC version.
How fast does Sikkens ProLuxe ship to Illinois?
Orders placed by 4:00 PM Eastern ship the same day from our Michigan warehouse and typically arrive in next business day to much of Illinois. Shipping is free to Illinois and the rest of the lower 48.
Is PPG ProLuxe the same as Sikkens?
Yes. PPG bought the Sikkens exterior wood line in 2013 and renamed it ProLuxe; PPG says the ProLuxe line contains all of the same Sikkens products and formulas. Today’s cans carry a “Same Sikkens formula — new name” badge.
